"Powerful Woman is (NOT) an Anomaly"

People used to think of a powerful man as a born leader and a powerful woman as an anomaly. (Margaret Atwood)

From the Heart of Wild Africa to the Paradise of Bali

What will happen if the forests and wildlife of Africa presented on the island of Bali? It sounds absurd, impossible. However, it’s really manifested by Bali Safari & Marine Park, with open-zoo concept which stands on an area of 48 hectares of land in the district of Gianyar, Bali.

Bali Safari & Marine Park is one of the founding of Taman Safari Indonesia which is first established in Bogor, West Java. Previously, Taman Safari Indonesia has also set up Taman Safari Indonesia 2 which is located in Pringen, Pasuruan, East Java. But from these three, Bali Safari & Marine Park presents the most distinct concepts. If we want a unique and different vacation experience from other tourist attractions, Bali Safari & Marine Park is an appropriate alternative. With African style that is visible from the African jungle and the animals inside the park, visitors would feel most different safari adventure. Not only that, we can also feel a touch of traditional Balinese in this place through Balinese architectural style that still seen in some of the buildings.

Welcome to the incredible adventure into a wildlife world. Explore the life of hundreds of animals of more than 60 species.

With a total of approximately 300 animals that inhabit this safari park, visitors will feel the satisfaction when they get around the entire area of the safari park, interact with some animals, also feed on some animals such as elephants, tigers and lions. Naturally, with a direct view and interact with nature and wildlife in the African jungle style, we will rediscover the new spirit and fresh mind.

Get acquainted with the mightiest elephants. Ride through a daring elephant trek and enjoy the inspiring elephant educational show.

We also could find many interesting places like Hanuman Stage and Hanuman Court, which is the main stage for educational and entertainment show from the animals, Kampung Gajah which invites us to get around an elephant ride or just watch them playing, or FunZone which provides a lot of fun games for kids to adults. There is also Tsavo Lion restaurant that will bring us closer to the lions, and Uma restaurant that serves various typical dishes of Europe and Asia.

Tsavo Lion restaurant relives the legendary pair of Tsavo lions who become famous by killing and eating more than one hundred railway workers on the Kenya-Uganda Railway in 1898. (Gosh! That's terrible!)

Bali Safari & Marine Park also presents a regular show schedule for a variety of performances each week. There are educational animal shows, elephant bathing, also elephant conservation and educational shows that can be seen every day. Elephant parade will be present every Saturday. And do not miss the course Balinese dance & performance, and barong performances as a form of entertainment from the richness of Balinese culture which can be seen every Sunday or holiday.

Elephant trekking through Mara River would be totally fun..!

One more special thing in this place is the Mara River Safari Lodge, with its unique style of African resorts built in the middle area of Bali Safari & Marine Park. "The establishment of Mara River itself is intended to complement the Bali Safari & Marine Park which already provides a unique entertainment in Bali. In our view, it seems interesting to be able to live closer together with animals here, "said General Manager of Mara River Safari Lodge and owner of Bali Safari & Marine Park, John Sumampau.

Close the day and spend the night in this four-star luxurious African treetop lodges. Peek through your window, get relax to see the African Savannah below while enjoying the stunning Balinese sunset.

More about the concept of Africa that was brought to this island, John explained, "Africa is different. It’s not difficult for us to encounter the animals in Africa since the nature of Africa had a unique terrain. If in Indonesia maybe we should wait for hours to be able to see directly the existing animals in the forest. "

Man who had been introduced to the flora and fauna from his father and grandfather who was the founder of Taman Safari Indonesia also confirmed the objectives of Bali Safari & Marine Park is that people can be more familiar and like the animals. The strength of Bali Safari & Marine Park itself is conservation, where the main mission is to bring overall environmental conservation. He thought this proves successful, because the interests of the visitors to Bali Safari & Marine Park could reach more than 1000 visitors per day.

Bali Hai Dream Villa : The Place You'll Discover the Real Bali

*I never wonder before, if the interview with a Balinese entrepreneur, Pak Wayan Suena, would lead me to this cozzy place, Bali Hai Dream Villa..
Spontaneously, he just asked Pak Igo, my chief editor @L'ultimo Paradiso to spend the weekend in his villa..

and yeaaa, we were really spending our Quality times there for 2 days (July 3-4th), with Pak Igo Kleden&his family, Dicky da Silva&his family (graphic designer of L'ultimo Paradiso), Pak Gita Imanda&his wife (kepala biro Sun TV - BMC, MNC group)..

Pak Gita, Pak Igo, Pak Wayan

Started with enjoying the fresh water in the private swimming pool with the kids, barbeque party, playing around with the Kids (Franco, Redem, Trancey, Richie), watching World cup match together, sleeping in such a heavenly bedroom, waking up in the natural fresh atmosphere of Nyanyi Village, visiting Pura Tanah Lot (a Holy Hindu temple which is built on a rock offshore), and closed with big lunch of babi guling (Balinese traditional cuisine)..

well, actually so many things i wanna share, but just check out this feature story i've wrote for L'ultimo Paradiso..

Holiday in Bali without feeling a real atmosphere of Bali nature is just incomplete. From many private villas in Bali, Bali Hai Dream Villa is one of the villas that will take us to the most unique and memorable vacation on the island. We will be more integrated with the culture and traditions of Bali, and also the naturally beautiful landscape in Nyanyi village, Tanah Lot.

Awaken on a beautiful morning in Bali Hai Dream Villa, we will be greeted with a natural coolness of magnificent green rice terraces around the villa. With a quiet atmosphere, we will truly feel the privacy of holiday, completed with all facilities and high standard services. We can enjoy the freshness of nature in the backyard of the villa decorated with beautiful garden, which lay right in front of the elegant dinning room and living room, with a private swimming pool 5x10 meters wide.

Located not far from Nyanyi Beach and Tanah Lot Temple with black sandy beach, the private villa is designed so that tourists can feel the peace of vacation as well as closer to nature and native culture of Bali that are still existing tightly to the surrounding community. Villa with two bedrooms and a private pool offers a unique personal vacation place with luxurious setting but still does not leave a characteristic of Bali. The guests also will be made at home with complete accommodation and ideal for standard-star villa, which is given with a welcoming and friendly service.
Elegant bathtub with tropical garden view outside

For Wayan Suena, the owner of Bali Hai Dream Villa, service is the most important thing. Even he says the service in the villa was no less than a standard of service at five-star villas. "In accordance with slogans that are owned, 'Your Holiday Villa with private drivers and Butler in Paradise Island', the guests will get special services for transportation facilities during the eight hours each day, including return transport from airport to Villa. So they can go to Seminyak, Kuta, Legian, without having to think about transportation anymore, "said Wayan.

Various activities also can be done by the guests who want to enjoy the days of holiday in Bali. If the guests want to spend time at the villa, private pool and two floor Balinese gazebo is the best choice where we can relax. Especially the beautiful scenery that can be seen from the gazebo is so beautiful, with the green rice field surrounded. More over, we can see directly the activities of local people are processing fields. If want to enjoy the atmosphere outside the villa, guests can use a bicycle provided to tour around Nyanyi village or go to Nyanyi black sand beach which is only five minutes from the villa. Even we can go to Tanah Lot Temple which only takes about 10 minutes.
Two floor Balinese gazebo gave you amazing view of rice tarraces around the villa

Not too far from the villa guests can play golf in "Nirvana Golf Course", as well as visiting Kedaton Alas, one of Bali's sacred forests inhabited by lots of monkeys, also Taman Ayun temple in Mengwi, one of the cultural heritage of Hindu Temples in Bali . Not only that, along with the driver in a private villa, we can also go to famous places in Bali such as Seminyak, Kuta, Legian that can be achieved approximately 20 minutes from the villa.

With so full facilities and services owned, Wayan Suena claimed his villa to be a favorite destination for tourists from Europe, Asia, or even domestic. "They used to have a minimum of seven days length of stay, and so far there were no customers that complain about the facilities and services in Bali Hai Dream Villa," he added. Most foreign tourists love the holiday experience like this, especially when they can interact with the nature and local people around. "Some time ago, a guest from Japan who stayed here even donated clothing to the local people of Nyanyi village," Wayan said. This kind of good relationships make the existence of Bali Hai Dream Villa is very welcome in the midst of society. While the prospects for their own guests, Wayan claimed so far is very good because the market is also supported with a very affordable rate for the luxurious villa with superior service like this.

Never Ending Story of Bali, From Chris&Marianne

They were so happy knowing that i want to interview them for my tourism magazine..!

Kamipun duduk santai mengelilingi sebuah meja bundar tepat di pinggir pantai, berbagi cerita dan pengalaman satu sama lain..

and here the story goes..

Born in Indonesia 56 years ago, and had felt two years living in Indonesia makes Chris Schut has his own bond with this largest archipelagic country in the world. Since 2000 until now, he was already five times visiting Indonesia, while his wife, Marianne, in already visited Indonesia for six times. Over the decade, the prime tourist destination that they always chose is Bali.

For Chris that was born from the Indonesian mother and Dutch father, Bali is a favorite vacation spot if he went to Indonesia. Prior to Bali, usually he also visited Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, or Yogyakarta first. Several years ago he also visited his mother families in Bandung. While in Surabaya he even had visited the hospital where he was born and took pictures there. "It's a memorable place for me," he said. However, the longest vacation time is still spent in the Goddess Island. This year, he spent more than four weeks for a vacation to Bali with his wife. Sanur Beach Hotel was chosen as a place to stay while in Bali since 2005. This began since one of their friends gave them a recommendation by recording the atmosphere and the location of Sanur Beach Hotel which is right on this beach in a video. Watching that video, they concluded "it's a nice hotel we should come". As they felt the first holiday in Sanur, they fell in love with this one of the most popular beaches in Bali.

For both of them, Bali has a lot of attraction. "Bali is a nice place, with nice weather, good hotels, and a lot of souvenirs," said Marianne who is originally Dutch. Their favorite place so far is Sanur beach, a place where they can relax on the edge of a quiet white sandy beach while sunbathing. In their opinion, in Bali almost anything can be bought with a very affordable price, especially compared to another country where they had vacations. "When we went to Turkey, the money I spent for two weeks equals with four weeks in Bali," added Chris after the event cooking class held in Sanur Beach Aerowisata Hotel.

Raised by an Indonesian mother makes Chris since childhood are familiar with the Indonesian cuisines. Especially in Holland, it was quite easy to find Indonesian food such as lemper, tempe, sambal goreng, or fried rice. "I love ‘babi kecap’, I can cook it, and mine is better than ‘babi kecap’ Bali," he said jokingly. Marianne also claimed that she loves the cuisine of Indonesia such as martabak and tumis buncis. Even in Holland they eve
r presented the various typical of Indonesian rice to their 40 friends, and everyone loved it.

Besides relaxing at Sanur beach or swim in the swimming pool at Sanur Beach Aerowisata Hotel, their favorite activity while in Bali is taking a walk while shopping. Marianne loved the Balinese souvenirs, and she always bought a lot of souvenirs for her family and friends in Netherlands.

One of their favorite shopp
ing places is Geneva Handcraft Shop in Seminyak. Besides the price is quite affordable for them, the choices were so varied. They do not like to waste their time to bargain the price of souvenirs that they used to find on the streets. But sometimes Chris and Marianne also feel sorry for the local people in Bali who are earning money by selling handmade souvenirs. One time they even bought a bamboo hangings ornaments sold by a family who offered souvenirs around the coast of Sanur. "We feel 'kasihan'. We do not say that we are rich, but we just think that we have to share our wealth to others, "added Chris who was born in Surabaya. One more thing they love about Bali is the hospitality of the Balinese people. "Everybody is nice and friendly here," said Marianne. Sometime he gave a tip for the cleaning service at the hotel. Although, Chris said, without a tip they will still provide the best service for the guests.

About the condition of tourism in Bali today, as they saw every year when they visited Bali, things began to improve. Even compared to last year, they felt current prices began to rise, but that's not a big problem for them. Chris and Marianne also felt concerned about the condition of post-bomb Bali tragedy and Global crisis. They most regrettable is that many local people in Bali who worked in tourism sector, automatically will be hard for a living because a lot of people lost their jobs. But related to the tragedy several years ago, it did not make them afraid to come again to Bali. They just said that it can happen anywhere, not only in Indonesia. Therefore, Bali remains a favorite tourism destination with them until now.

The vacation to Bali this year for Chris is more different from the previous years. Chris who retired this year claimed to be more relaxed in enjoying the holidays with his wife. Not like a few years ago when he was still working. He usually can only spend about three weeks, then had to go back to work again. The plan, they're both going back to Holland at the beginning of this July, and will certainly come back to Bali again next year.

Kuta Beach Sea Turtle Conservation
